Therapy Rule #1:

You have to like your therapist.

Research shows that the relationship built between therapist and client is the most important part of therapy, surpassing even interventions and treatment approaches. Finding a therapist that is the right fit for you can take time. To aid in your decision, here is some information about me.

Meet Angela

As a child, I delivered books on my bicycle, fostering a book club among homebound elderly individuals. Embracing humanity’s connection, I enjoyed giving, celebrating, and addressing their needs.

Being part of life’s circle is inherent to me.

Living with addictions and mental health challenges is tough; therapy provides a space to share, heal, and explore recovery-oriented options that fit your goals. Harm reduction respects your journey by offering choices, dignity, education, and healthy options. My passion lies in clinical counseling for addiction and mental health. I believe in finding what works individually by navigating the gray zone and discovering peace. Bringing people together, uncovering their strengths, and embracing struggles are the things I enjoy most about being a therapist.

I graduated from Bemidji State University in 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Chemical Dependency, along with a Minor in Special Education. After practicing the field for 4 years, I returned to achieve my Master’s degree in Social Work in 2010 from the University of North Dakota. Throughout my career I have provided care in residential, inpatient, and outpatient settings. Treating complex addictions and mental health symptoms with adults and adolescents is my specialty.

My Services
Meet Angela
Angela Grand Forks Therapist

The goal at my practice is to provide enough space for processing and “getting it all out” while also being honest and approachable.

I am a therapist who will give you direct feedback that is based on what I’ve deeply come to know about you through our work together. My feedback will be informed by evidence-based research and interventions to back it up.

My Style

I take a holistic approach to your mental health care.

Together we will explore how your past experiences impact your current life, your relationships, patterns of behavior, and the resulting challenges.

In my experience, therapy is most helpful when practical action follows new insight. Therapy will allow you to try on new beliefs and practice new ways of living in the world, ultimately helping you not only to heal but also grow.

Mindfulness is woven into the work to provide you with tools to better cope with the challenges you may be facing and to help you recognize and celebrate your successes.

Next year you will be happy you started today!

If you are ready, so am I.

My approach combines various modalities to provide a well-rounded therapeutic experience aimed at achieving your goals. Therapy may involve incorporating natural experiences in your environment, like going for a walk or visiting a public place and engaging in hands-on activities. These approaches can assist in reducing or increasing specific symptoms or outcomes based on what is identified to be beneficial.
